About

Welcome to my online store. I'm Helen, an artist living and creating in the picturesque village of Crows Nest, Queensland.

Since earning my Bachelor of Visual Art (Illustration major) from Queensland College of Art in 1994, I have been exhibiting my art for over thirty years, including twelve solo exhibitions. From my home studio, I work across acrylic, water-soluble oils, pen and ink, and coloured pencil.

My practice is informed by dreams and visions, music and lyrics, evocative language, and symbolism.  I am drawn to the mystery and beauty found in both the natural and imagined worlds, often combining elements of the two to create works that invite a sense of wonder and possibility.

I often revisit my own drawings, reinterpreting them through a different scale or medium. A small, intimate drawing might be reimagined as a larger painting, much like an acoustic song being opened up into a full arrangement. The essence of the original remains, while scale and medium bring new energy, depth and atmosphere to the work.

I enjoy working in series, allowing ideas to develop and unfold with a loose narrative thread. Working towards a solo exhibition gives me the freedom to immerse myself in a theme, explore it deeply, and let my imagination run wild.

I am currently working towards an imaginative, botanical-themed solo exhibition for January 2027 at Glen Rock Gallery, Esk.  I am also developing an ongoing body of mermaid-inspired artworks.

*Most small original works listed on my website are sold unframed, ready for you to frame to your own taste and space.

You'll also find prints and greeting cards of selected artworks here.

Solo Musician

Music and Art go hand in hand for me - In addition to my visual art practice, I'm a solo musician on piano and vocals. As a self-taught musician, I play a diverse range of covers, and have played at private parties, hotels, clubs, cafes, markets, and festivals. For booking information, please get in touch via my contact details.

Thankyou for visiting and taking time to explore my work.
