“Night Queen and The Dog Star” 2023

The ‘Queen of the Night’ cactus blooms once a year, overnight, glowing bright white like the moon. Sirius, nicknamed ‘the Dog Star’, is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. Both the ephemeral cactus flower and the Dog Star captured my imagination. I wanted to bring them together within a dreamscape, composed of wildlife and plant-life that to me comes together like music, dance, theatre. The Dragon Fruit Cactus and the Nightshade Herb compliment the landscape. Cattle Dog, Boobook Owl, Lunar Moth, and Gecko make their appearance. The stage is set.
